Danyang

Hello, hello...
(Disc.Türkçsi yakında, vizelerden sonra...)

I have not written a thing for such a long time. I did not even had time to add pictures to my last post but here I am with a new post... :D (Update just added photos to my Gunsan post!)

My life consists of my school these days so not much to update to be honest. Just started my Master's SNU, which is killing me. I am taking 4 classes but 3 of them are in Korean, so was not ready for this... But thanks to WOW Korea had a bit of fresh air and went to Andong and Danyang to see around there. And it was sooo cool, full of nature that I wanted to share with you guys. So here we start.

(Btw just changed my phone there is an update to my picture quality. Finally bought a Samsung and left the capitalist iphone behind. Not that Samsung is amazing but just hate the idea you have to buy an adapter for everything in iphone. Such money trap.)

Chungju Lake & Ferry Ride

Cruise Ship: Chungju Lake Tourist Center Janghwa Ferry Terminal
Price:Adults: W12,000, Children (3-13): W8,000, Babies 2 and under: Free.
Hours: Summer: 9:00am ~ 4:30pm; Winter: 10:00am ~ 3:00pm

For me this was one of the most memorable parts from the trip, as an avid water lover. We went at the end of September so it was the perfect weather(other than the strong sun, but thats me being picky).

There are few options but we took the one is around 40 min. but to be honest it felt longer. Everything was so calm and beautiful that it felt like time had stopped. Especially after a week in the lab this was what my body and mind needed. The upper part is open and down is closed. There was a strong sun butit felt amazing as the wind brushes you skin with the ferrys movement...

You pass few bridges and see amazing rock formations. Surrounded by the mountains in the middle of a lake.... And there is even information announced realated to your surroundings, both in English and Korean apparently but we listened to Korean.

To be realistic it is a bit far to get if you don't know Korean but there are tour options online(trazy) you can easliy get and they take you too other attrations around Danyang. To which we went after this.

Mancheon Skywalk & Zipline & Alpine Coaster

Observatory
Hours: Summer: 9:00am ~ 6:00pm; Winter: 10:00am ~ 5:00pm
Admission: W2,000
Zipline & Alpine Coaster
Hours: 9:00am ~ 6:00pm, Closed Mondays
Admission: W30,000

We went there with the idea of only Skywalk but we found about the Alpine Coaster. As the Zipline was too scary this was the only option(It was much, much higher than the one I did at Gunsan. I am not that big of a scary cat...)

Left side goes up and then you come like a slide to the left side from inside of a mountain

I could not take pictures as you have to leave your phone behind but it was so much fun. You sit on a cart and it takes you around 90m high, it takes a bir time so you will have some time to question your life and your existance... :D After that it is like a roller-coaster between the trees, where you control your speed. It was so much fun, so short.

After that you can take a bus up to the mountain where the sky walk is situated. It's architecture was soo cool and you were surrounded with an amazing view 360 as it is 90 meter high off ground. And when you are on top of the real skywalk adds up 40 meter to that hight.

BTS:)
There are glass floors on the outer part of the skywalk. I have never walked on it so was not sure if I was going to be afraid. But felt nothing... Just the amazing view. This place even appeared on Running Man, not sure which episode though.

To go back down, you can either take the same bus or... just go crazy and take the Zip-line unlike us. It will probably offer a much better experience.

Dodamsambong Peaks

In the other part of the lake is situated these natural stones, but of course Koreans have to give some meaning behind them :D

They represent the husband, wife and the mistress.Appearently the big rock is called "Janggunbong" (Husband Rock), the rock on the left side which appears to be showing coquetry is called "Cheopbong" (Mistress Rock), and the rock on the right side which is turning away from the big rock is called "Cheobong" (Wife Rock).

The peaks are said to represent an angry wife turning away from her husband who has taken a concubine in order to secure a male heir.

It was a nice quick spot the take pictures, we had taken some funny ones due to our height difference with my friend :D

Danyang Market

To finish the day with nice food, we headed to the Danyang Market to try some traditional food.

Danyang is famous with it's garlic, so you can find anything with a garlic version: garlic bread(sweet), garlic ice-cream, garlic chicked, garlic.... As an avid garlic find not sad and the market did not smell as strong we expected.

The timing was bit off as some stores were already closed but we tried the famous chicked and come Mandu. Which both were really good.

There is a really famous Korean snack called chestnut bread, small ball shaped filled with sweet chestnut filling. They had the garlic version with a subtle garlic after taste but not bad to be honest.

And the famous(!) garlic ice-cream had the same thing. Overall sugary taste with garlic after taste in your mouth. Nice place to stop by if you want to see market environment, unless you are a vampire...

  Note:

Btw we ate in a Restaurant on the way, Tteokgalbi. Which is Korean style beef patty with bunch of side-dishes. It was delicious so had to include a picture. Thank you for reading, see you all in my next post.
